SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS
1. Science Curriculum
2. Regional Achievement Test (RAT)
The Regional Achievement Test is being administered to select public secondary schools of Region III before the end of every school year. One of the objectives is to determine the students’ learning outcomes.
3. Philippine Mathematical Olympiad
The Philippine Mathematical Olympiad (PMO) is a Mathematics competition among secondary students. The best students in Mathematics are selected from a series of individual and team competitions. This aims to stimulate the improvement of mathematics education by awakening interest in and appreciation of mathematics among students and teachers and gaining insights into the levels of mathematics learning.
4. Regional Schools Press Conference
This is an academic competition which provides students the opportunities to showcase their journalistic competencies and skills in the individual and team competitions. It also promotes awareness among the campus journalists on their significant roles in nation building and applies ICT knowledge and skills in Radio Scriptwriting, Radio Broadcasting and Desktop Publishing.
5. Project IPI (Improvement of Performance Indicators)
Performance Indicators can be computed and be utilized for evaluating the educational system’s performance at various levels. This evaluation is in relation to the Department’s goal aimed at improving the efficiency, effectiveness, equity and excellence among our students.
6. Project TNT (Tagisan ng Talino)
Ito ay isang kumpetisyon sa asignaturang Filipino na may layuning masukat ang mga taglay na tanging kakayahan at kaalaman ng mga mag-aaral sa asignaturang Filipino sa pamamagitan ng isang makabuluhang kumpetisyon sa mga larangan ng maunawang pagbasa, malikhaing pagsulat sa wika at panitikang Filipino.
7. Project CER (Curriculum Enrichment and Revision)
Schools are encouraged to contextualize/localize the curriculum to respond to their specific teaching – learning needs. They are also given flexibility to modify or enrich the curriculum to suit the particular thrusts of special schools.
8. Project SMARIES (Science and Mathematics Room in Every School)
This aims to improve instruction in Science and Mathematics in the Secondary Level through instruction/establishment/setting up of a science and a mathematics room in every public secondary school which will serve as a functional science laboratory and mathematics room.
9. Project ARC (Action Researches Conducted)
Action research can be defined as classroom-based research conducted by teachers in their classrooms to solve problems concerning their teaching practices and other related school problems. It should not be equated with basic research done by graduate students in doing their thesis/dissertation work with applied research done in the business world.
10. CONSTEL (Science and English)
CONSTEL or Continuing Science Education Via Television is an inter-agency collaborative project of the Philippine Government. Implementing agencies are the Department of Education and the Bureau of Elementary Education and the Bureau of Secondary Education, the University of the Philippines Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP-ISMED) and the People’s Television Network, Inc (PTNI) in cooperation with the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Philippine Normal University (PNU) and the Foundation for the Upgrading of the Standard of Education (FUSE).
11. DepED Integrated Short-Term Scholarship
The program aims to upgrade the teaching competencies of teachers/supervisors in their learning areas where priority training needs have been identified. It also aims to facilitate better understanding of the content and integrative processes currently adopted in the restructured Basic Education Curriculum (BEC).
12. Regional Search for the Outstanding Youth Science Researchers (TOYS)
This projects aims to encourage research and development among secondary students and undertake scientific research that will develop the youth’s analytical mind, resourcefulness and creativity.
13. English Olympics
This project aims to promote academic excellence and values like honesty, self-discipline, camaraderie and sportsmanship. It also develops communicatively competent students.
14. Pop Quiz
15. Intel Teach to the Future Program
This is a worldwide initiative to help teachers learn to integrate technology in the classroom. The goal of the program is to help at least 20,000 teachers to learn to use computer technology in teaching, develop specific instructional unit and to bring back technology product to the school.
16. Project Values Enhancement Program (VEP)
Building people means eliminating our weaknesses and developing our strengths and then start with analysis, understanding and appreciation of these values.
17. Adopt-A-School Program
The Adopt-A-School Program is an innovative pro-poor government program that gives private institutions and individuals the opportunity to become partners in education by providing assistance in the upgrading and modernization of public high schools.
18. Project VOW (Values Orientation Workshop)
The project will deal first and foremost with the individual person. It will look into one’s relationship with others and with one’s organization. It will give opportunities for one to clarify one’s own values and how one can align these to one’s own vision.

20. BRIGADA ESKWELA
“Brigada Eskwela” is an annual project launched by the Department of Education. It aims to maintain the orderliness of the school with the help of the PTA Officers, Student Government and the involvement of the community.
21. Youth Entrepreneurship and Cooperatives in School Program (YECS)
This program shall enhance the culture of entrepreneurship and cooperativism among high school students. It also promotes consciousness on the value of cooperation and spirit of teamwork through the formation of enterprises.
22. Student-Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP)
To provide a venue for the development of skills-based competencies anchored on the Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) Program, the Department of Education formed the “Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines (STEP)”.
23. Schools First Initiative (SFI)
Schools First Initiative – is empowering schools to improve education, thus achieving quality education for the graduates who are the outcomes of every schooling. Schools First means schools are empowered to create solutions at their own context and setting.
